Quotation Marks
Always use smart (sometimes called “curly,” “real,” or “typographer‘s”) quotation marks. Smart quotes are usually curved (depending on the font) and have different opening and closing versions. Most modern word processors default to smart quotes but you can check against the table below.
Style Rules
- Periods and commas always go inside quotation marks.
